To be free...

What is true freedom?

I have always had an urge to travel everywhere. Yes, I literally mean EVERYWHERE. I want to be able to experience the world. For me, this is freedom.

I want to EXIST. The feeling of existence can come from incredibly simple things. Here's a few simple things that I like to do/want to do:
- Embrace new cultures
- Run in a place I've never been before and run some more
- Do activities that will make my heart leap e.g. Skydiving
- Try new foods
- Take a road trip
- Have the wind blow through my hair and feel the sun on my face
- Lie on a hill and look at the stars
- Dance in the rain
- Sit on top of a mountain and watch the sunset

"Don’t sit and wait. Get out there, feel life.” - Rumi

Friday Favourites II

I thought I'd share with you which book and products I've been loving recently!

Animal Farm by George Orwell
I recently read one of Orwell's greatest books, and I devoured it. I could not put this book down! The powerful underlying message gained from the simple plot blew me away. I consider this to be my new favourite George Orwell book and I recommend EVERYONE to read it.
- Purchased from a second hand book store in London

L'oréal Paris, 'I got the Power' Lipgloss
Anyone who knows me will know I love my lip products! This wonderful lipgloss gives a subtle yet effective shine, providing a nude shade to the lips. It can be worn day or night.
- Purchased from Boots

'Me to you' bookmark
I enjoy collecting bookmarks and this has become the one I use the most! It is made out of metal so it doesn't move around much, which is brilliant if you're on the go with your book. An adorable, little metal teddy bear holding an apple dangles from the top of it - I am an absolute sucker for all things small and cute!
- Purchased from Clintons

'Me to you' teddy bear
As mentioned before, I love all things tiny and this bear is exactly that! It sits nicely on the corner of my table, hardly taking up any space. It has such a soft and lovely texture too!
- Purchased from Clintons

Gucci 'Bamboo' Perfume
I have fallen in love. This fragrance simultaneously has a strong yet subtle sweet smell to it. This product is definitely worth the hype and I wear it nearly every day!
- Purchased from the airport

Friday Finds

'Friday Finds', hosted by A Daily Rhythm, showcases the books that bloggers found.

The Fall by Albert Camus

Goodreads Summary:
Elegantly styled, Camus' profoundly disturbing novel of a Parisian lawyer's confessions is a searing study of modern amorality.
(Picture from internet)

Although the Goodreads summary is very short, it captivated me and I had to add it to my TBR pile. This book sounds intriguing and I can't wait to get my hands on it!

Waiting on Wednesday III

'Waiting On Wednesday' is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine. It spotlights upcoming releases that book lovers are eagerly anticipating! I chose:

Heartless by Marissa Meyer

Goodreads Summary:
Catherine may be one of the most desired girls in Wonderland, and a favorite of the yet-unmarried King of Hearts, but her interests lie elsewhere. A talented baker, all she wants is to open a shop with her best friend and supply the Kingdom of Hearts with delectable pastries and confections. But according to her mother, such a goal is unthinkable for the young woman who could be the next Queen.

At a royal ball where Cath is expected to receive the king's marriage proposal, she meets Jest, the handsome and mysterious court joker. For the first time, she feels the pull of true attraction. At the risk of offending the King and infuriating her parents, she and Jest enter into an intense, secret courtship.

Cath is determined to define her own destiny and fall in love on her terms. But in a land thriving with magic, madness, and monsters, fate has other plans.

Expected Publication: 8th November 2016

(Picture taken from the internet)

This book is a sort of fairy tale retelling as it is based on the Queen of Hearts from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland. I absolutely love Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and I equally enjoy various interpretations of the story, so how can I not read this book?!

First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros

'First Chapter First Paragraph Tuesday Intros' is a meme hosted by Diana from http://bibliophilebythesea.blogspot.in, where book lovers share the first paragraph from a book they are reading!

Currently reading: My Heart & Other Black Holes by Jasmine Warga
First paragraph:
Music, especially classical music, especially Mozart's Requiem Mass in D Minor, has kinetic energy. If you listen hard enough, you can hear the violin's bow trembling above the strings, ready to ignite the notes. To set them in motion. And once the notes are in the air, they collide against one another. They spark. They burst.

As a person who loves playing music, I can really connect with this paragraph. The detailed description enchants and captures the reader. I am about 20 pages into the book and I'm thoroughly enjoying it so far!

The Liebster Award

Thank you to Cheryl from http://iheartfictionalpeople.com for nominating my blog for the Liebster Award! It is much appreciated!

Cheryl's questions for me:
1. What made you want to start a blog?
I enjoy writing and I wanted to share my passion for books and be part of a community with other book worms like myself.

2. How did you come up with your blog name?
- My URL is SoniaCurlyFries. Pretty random you may think, but there is a story behind it!My hair has a life of its own. Sometimes it wavy and sometimes it can be very curly. When my hair decides to go into curly mode, it reminds me of curly fries! Then I just included my name and voila URL created!
- My blog title is Sonia Blogs Books. This title just came to me, no interesting story I am afraid!

3. Where do you usually get your books?
It can vary. Book stores, second hand book stores (I absolutely love exploring cute second hand book stores), the library and amazon for e-books.

4. Do you prefer physical books or eBooks?
This is a tough one! I love both equally. I love being able to hold a physical book and flick through pages. I appreciate a beautiful cover and love the smell of new physical books. On the other hand, eBooks are more practical when I am travelling because I can store loads of them on my kindle. I also tend to read faster on the kindle.

5. What is your favourite genre to read and why?
Another tough question! I love to read a range of genres and discover new ones. I don't have a favourite, it just depends on my mood at the time. Sometimes I am in the mood for a light chick-lit, other times I can be in the mood for a dark psychologically thriller.

6. What is your least favourite genre?
Erotic literature. It is not my type of read.

7. What is the last book that made you cry?
I have never cried from a book or a film!

8. What is your favourite book-to-movie adaptation?
The Hunger games. I adore the book and the film definitely lives up to it!

9. What is the last book you gave 5 stars to?
The Girl on the Train. Brilliant book and I'm a sucker for psychological thrillers!

10. What is your favourite series?
The Hunger games.

11. What is the first book you remember reading?
The Hungry Caterpillar! Every British kid must have read this when they were very young!
